Lat Movements: The lats perform the exact opposite motion as the pectorals. Flex the lats, and the arms follow in an arch moving towards the back (protrusion) and laterally. This is the same arch as the eccentric portion of the chest press. The movement begins with flexing the lats, this brings the weight closer to your body, and the more you flex the closer the scapula get to each other. Flex the lats until the scapula cannot be any closer to each other. Relax the scapula beginning with the part closest to the midline, and ending on the distal most part of the lat (the wider the lats are stretched, the more they grow distally).
